A realistic scenario is using shared Wi‑Fi in different countries: you turn on a VPN, but a travel app or browser feature (or a misconfiguration) routes some traffic in an unexpected way. Another common issue is that a VPN may improve privacy in transit while still leaving you exposed to tracking from websites you log into. Finally, during travel, a route that worked yesterday may stop working today due to outages, network filtering, or endpoint changes.
